Situated in Girona, Spain, this previous Catalan farmhouse was utterly restored by ZEST Architecture.
Description by ZEST Architecture The Barcelonese Architecture agency ZEST Architecture, based by the Dutch architect Co Govers, will participate within the Biennale of Venice, which opens on S June 2014. The challenge Villa CP, the restoration of an previous Catalan farmhouse, serves as inspiration for the set up that ZEST Architecture will current in Palazzo Mora, as participant within the exhibition “Time Space Existence”, organized by the Global Art Affairs Foundation. Villa CP is a restoration undertaking, whereby a twenty first century home has been created inside an previous stone construction. The present stone partitions have been largely rebuilt, with monumental openings in the direction of the panorama linking the home to its spectacular environment: a National Park of cork oak with distant views in the direction of the Mediterranean. ZEST Architecture’s work is all the time marked by sustainability, so it might not come as a shock that this venture sports activities supplies and parts corresponding to a pure pool whose water is filtered by crops and gravel, insulation with regionally harvested and produced cork, clay and stray panel finishes within the inside and heating / cooling via a geothermal set up. The previous and the brand new (that which can age) strengthen one another on this venture by means of their opposition and juxtaposition. The previous has been left seen with all its scars, whereas new supplies reminiscent of Corten metal, wooden and clay, have been chosen for the great thing about their pure imperfections and the best way by which the traces left by time make them much more lovely. Rain, wind, human contact…. will be sure that this home can be much more lovely over time.
