A piece of North Pole inside your home
Friday, December 23rd, 2005Have you imagined how wonderful it would be if in the outside of your home the thermometer sets 104F and in the inside the thermometer sets nothing higher than 68F? It would be awesome, wouldn’t it? Well, you can have it in your home. All you have to do is to install an air conditioner.
Air conditioners are often abbreviated as AC in United States and air-con in Australia and Great Britain. The main goal of an air conditioner is to take the heat out of a room and cool down the temperature of the room.
In the opposite of many people might think, air conditioners are not a last century invention.
History of air conditioner
The first model of air conditioners were invented by he Persian people thousands of years ago! The model was based on wind shafts on the roof that caught the wind, passed it through the water and blew the cooled air to the room.
Then, in the 19th century, Michael Faraday imagined a process that compressing the air and liquefying a certain gas the air could get cooler. But it was theory until 1902, when Willis Harviland Carrier created the first model of air conditioner using Faraday’s ideas.
And, finally, in the 1950s, the sales for residential air conditioners took off.
Air conditioners in the 21st century
The problem with the Ozone Layer has brought us another serious problem: the overheating of Earth.
The increase of the levels of temperature is leading us to an almost unbearable daily life in summer. The excessive heat and the consequents floods are a drama for many people, especially for those who live in the countries around the Equator Line.
But this overheating can be felt in any part of the world. That’s why air conditioner is no longer a shallow item in our homes. It has become almost a health supplement, especially if you have new baby born, children and old people at home.
Home air conditioners have become more common every day and during summer the sales increase in a tremendous way.
Installing an air conditioner in your home may represent the difference between making your life more comfortable or making your family suffer the effects of the overheating process and even making them feeling not well, such as having nausea, fever and dizziness.
